Based on attendance in previous years, we'll need 3 to 4 volunteers to help get people up and running.

Especially needed are Windows and Linux helpers, since I personally have more experience using Mac OS X for Drupal work. Making sure everyone can get Drupal installed on their platform is our goal. I'll probably be encouraging folks to use the Acquia Dev Desktop installer on Mac and Windows since it is so easy.
